Technical specifications
Molecular profile
Tesamorelin (development code TH9507) is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It comprises the complete human GHRH(1-44) sequence with a C-terminal amide and an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl group. This N-terminal modification makes the peptide more resistant to cleavage by dipeptidyl aminopeptidase than native GHRH.
Tesamorelin acts as a GHRH receptor agonist on anterior pituitary somatotrophs, stimulating synthesis and release of endogenous growth hormone with downstream increases in insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). Its pharmacology and safety profile has been described in laboratory-animal studies, and it is used in research on GHRH receptor signalling, regulation of the somatotropic (GH/IGF-1) axis, and N-terminal modification strategies for stabilising peptide hormones against enzymatic degradation.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial.
For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
